Douglas the Stair Master

I met Douglas Campbell on site at Annerley, Brisbane today. Douglas was building a set of hardwood timber stairs for a mutual client of ours.

The timber Douglas is using is Kwila, also known as Merbau. Check out Timber.net’s database for Kwila.

Anyway, Douglas is available to build hardwood timber stairs in Brisbane. Phone 0448 427 167 or email douglascampbell48@yahoo.com.au.

Nice to meet you Douglas.

55 Gordon Street, Mackay

Construction has started on the new entrance and lift shaft at 55 Gordon Street, Mackay.

Better known as the current home of Macrossan & Amiet Solicitors.

This project was designed by Glen Place from Place Designs and is being built by local builder Barry Green. Structural engineering by Cornell Engineers.

Adding an elevator to an existing commercial building is a great way to achieve access to the upper floor for older clients or those restricted to a wheelchair. And the process is easier than you think.

You’ll need space to build the elevator. You’ll need a deeper foundation – depending on how the elevator is powered – and you’ll need it to access a common area of the building.

Speak to an architect to get the floor space requirements right. Then you’ll be ready to speak to Cornell Engineers about designing the structure for your new elevator.
